Come Dance With Me!

To be honest, I’ve never considered myself to be much of a dancer. While I’ve successfully executed choreography in shows I’ve performed in, without getting into too much detail let’s just say you probably won’t be seeing me on something like Dancing with the Stars any time soon. But I’ve always enjoyed dance music, especially the Big Band and Swing pieces that were so popular in the 40’s and 50’s. Music that’s there to be fun, and that gets you tapping your toes and then pulls you out of your seat.

I always enjoy performing this type of music, so I had a long list of potential pieces available when I started thinking about this album. I ended up with some of my favorite dance songs – songs I enjoy singing, but also some favorites of mine to listen to. I hope they’re some of yours as well.

It was a lot of fun working on the orchestrations for the pieces, which range from jazz combo to jazz band to full orchestra. I also appreciate Jonathan Allentoff’s help in providing arrangements for two of the pieces on the album.

So whether you’re out with your baby on a Saturday night or just enjoying some music at home, I hope these songs get you tapping your feet and help put a swing in your step.
